Feedback from Optimum’s Engineering Team: What makes HX Superior?
HX is equipped with a 36v Li-ion battery pack that contains 20 x Li-ion cells. Currently we use UL2271 certified LG battery cells and the HX is UL2272 certified. All HX hoverboards pass through all mandatory safety requirements of CE markings. All internal components of the HX and the charger are acquired from reputable suppliers that have strict quality control systems. All HX hoverboards fully comply with USA and Europe (CE) mandatory safety standards. The HX undergoes all these strict measures to assure the end user that the hoverboard will not catch fire or explode when charging or in use.
Battery Components – How to know the HX is 100% safe
Most hoverboards on the market use low quality batteries that do not carry any test reports and very few have UL2271 certified cells. We ensure our battery packs are of the highest quality and safety by engineering the perfect combination of components. When the battery cells are combined in such a tight battery pack, they will behave differently. Not only is the use of the best quality cells important, but the battery pack and charging circuit must be designed accordingly to perfectly suit the cells being used. Furthermore, cells may heat up when recharging and when drawing heavy loads, thus a proper cooling system and electronic circuit should be implemented to monitor the status of the battery and shutdown the system if it exceeds safety parameters. Our battery packs even go through a comprehensive shock and vibrations test to ensure they can handle the real world. All these tests are carried out by internationally accredited test labs to ensure the safety of the end user.
The HX Certifications, Lab Reports and Tests
UL 2271
This certification covers electrical energy storage assemblies (EESAs) such as battery packs and combination battery pack-electrochemical capacitor assemblies and the subassembly/modules that make up these assemblies for use in light electric-powered vehicles (LEVs) as defined in this standard.
UL 2272
This certification covers the electrical drive train system including the battery and charger system combinations for electric-powered self-balancing scooters as defined in this outline of investigation.
CE Markings
This marking indicates the HX has passed all mandatory safety requirements set by Europe and may be sold within Europe.
